DesignerCon (DCON) hosted its 18th and final celebration of art, design, and collectibles in Anaheim, California. It took center stage at the Anaheim Convention Center from December 15-17, 2023, celebrating a century of Hollywood with The Hollywood 100 Art Show. The mega-show brought together over 600 vendors and 350 global artists and designers, showcasing the latest in urban, underground, and pop art design. Notable attractions included the first exclusive signing and sale of Corey Feldman x FUNKO Pop collectible figures as well as the Medicom and BE@RBRICK booth, which featured exclusive items and signings by heralded artists including LA’s own Bobby Hundreds.

Carmen Acosta's booth took center stage at the show, marking the Hollywood Sign's centennial celebration. Carmen curated an impressive display featuring 100 local and international artists, each customizing a Hollywood Sign figurine designed by Onch. The unique pieces, individually stylized, will continue their showcase in 2024 on Hollywood Boulevard. Carmen shared insights into the year-long celebration at Ovation in Hollywood Highland, where the art show will feature activations, print signings, and the possibility of reproducing popular pieces based on audience engagement.
OG Slick, the acclaimed graffiti artist and creator of the iconic LA hands, presented a visually captivating booth. Known for his influence on the West Coast graffiti scene, Slick's booth at DesignerCon featured a dissected version of his famous hands, stylized as a disection. Attendees experienced live tattoo sessions of the legendary LA hands, adding an interactive dimension to the booth. Slick's intricate detailing, special scrubs, and personal presence underscored his enduring impact on street art and design.
Another standout booth was graced by independent music artist Billy Racxx, who made waves with his unique collection of figurines and exclusive merchandise named "creatures." These artistic representations, inspired by Billy's music and concepts, underscored the boundless creativity and freedom achievable as an independent artist. Billy's journey from major stages like Rolling Loud to the creative realm of DesignerCon highlighted the versatility of independent artists in monetizing their craft.
As DesignerCon bids farewell to its last year in Anaheim, the move to Vegas promises enhanced accessibility and more space for future editions. The diverse and dynamic booths, including those of Billy Racxx, OG Slick, and Carmen Acosta, showcased the intersection of art, design, and collectibles, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating the event's return in 2024 in its new Vegas home.
